1200 calorie ADA Diet

A 1200 calorie ADA diet is a reducing diet for diabetics. Although most people need more calories than 1200 per day to maintain their weight, in order to lose weight, this diabetic diet balances out the basic nutrient needs to maintain health while losing weight. A serving from a food group may be "exchanged" for another in the same food group to add variety to the daily food choices. For those without diabetes, the 1200 calorie diet is a good way to understand the most healthy way to eat while on a reduced calorie diet. The exchange lists include starch, fruit, vegetables, milk protein, fat, and free foods. A healthy diet needs all of the food groups included, every day. It didn't have our other favorite food groups, dessert, finger food, snack food or soda food groups. To get back on track, try balancing your diet with the guidelines of the ADA diet.
